„Das Borgstedter Maibockfest“ war bei gutem Wetter ein voller Erfolg! Wir danken allen fleißigen Helfern für ihren Einsatz! Dank der Musik war die Stimmung so toll, dass sogar getanzt wurde. Die Hüpfburg und die Spiele wurden wieder gut angenommen. Insgesamt ein sehr gelungenes Fest!

Am 26. April wurde von der SPD Borgstedt der Baum des Jahres 2014 – die Traubeneiche – im Rossahlredder gepflanzt.

Die Traubeneiche (Quercus petraea, Syn.: Q. sessilis, Q. sessiliflora), auch Wintereiche genannt, ist eine Pflanzenart aus der Gattung der Eichen (Quercus) in der Familie der Buchengewächse (Fagaceae). Sie wächst als sommergrüner Baum, der Wuchshöhen von 25 bis 30 (maximal 40) Meter und Stammdurchmesser bis zu 2 Meter erreicht. Durch ihre kräftige Pfahlwurzel ist sie äußerst sturmfest. Ihr Höchstalter liegt bei 800 bis 1000 Jahren. Die Rinde der Traubeneiche ist in der Jugend glatt und schwach grau-grün glänzend, später wird eine dicke, tief längsrissige, graubraune Borke gebildet. Sie blüht von April bis Mai.
